Monitoring network design
We design your camera trap monitoring network to precisely align with your specific monitoring goals, target species, study area characteristics, and logistical constraints. Utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) software, we conduct thorough spatial analysis to optimize network placement. You will receive a comprehensive report, along with the spatial layers, detailing the finalized network design. Furthermore, for a deeper understanding, we offer an optional service to run sophisticated simulations. These simulations estimate the minimum sampling effort required to achieve the desired statistical precision for your subsequent data analysis and predictions.
Data analysis with a substantive report
Based on the collected and processed data, we perform a wide range of ecological and population analyses. To estimate the relative and absolute abundance and density of selected species, we utilize a range of statistical models available in the subject literature, including, among others, the (Spatial) Random Encounter Model, Distance Sampling, REST, and the (Spatial) Bayesian N-Mixture Model. We analyze the sex structure and the activity profiles of species (both daily and seasonal). We specialize in spatial analysis of camera trap data, mapping with high resolution the distribution and interactions between species, as well as the structural and functional variation in the composition of entire animal communities at the landscape level. Additionally, we can assess the anthropogenic pressure on the monitored area and conduct connectivity analysis.

Setup & configuration of TRAPPER AI software stack
The TRAPPER AI system, including all required modules and artificial intelligence capabilities, will be fully set up and configured on the Customer’s chosen infrastructure (either in-house or cloud-based). The setup encompasses:
Operating system-level configuration of the infrastructure, including:
- Configuration of the PostgreSQL 16/18 database;
- Installation and configuration of Docker and Docker Compose;
- Installation of all other required system packages and libraries;
- Configuration of a mailbox (credentials provided by the Customer) for communication and system notifications;
- Hot and cold data storage configuration;
Configuration and production testing of the following TRAPPER AI system modules:
- Trapper Expert Backend
- HTTP Uploader, FTP(S) Server (optional) and Trapper Tools
- Trapper Citizen Science Frontend (see the tutorial here)
- Trapper AI Manager
- Trapper AI Worker
The Trapper setup provides configuration for a range of supported and publicly available AI species models with no extra cost. This includes Megadetector versions 5 and 6, the proprietary Trapper AI custom species models, and the option to include Deep Faune v1.4, which is currently the top model for identifying European mammals. If you have a model trained in supported architecture we can integrate it. Additionally, we offer a separate service to train your own custom species model, detailed elsewhere.
TRAPPER is an open system (GNU GPL license) that can be expanded with new functionalities.

Changing the interface colors, logos, and other graphic materials. This service encompasses rebranding of the platform’s visual identity. It includes altering the default color palette of the user interface (UI) elements, such as buttons, backgrounds, and text, to align with the client’s brand guidelines. Furthermore, the service involves integrating the client’s specific logos, icons, and other proprietary graphic materials throughout the application. This ensures a consistent and professional look and feel that reflects the organization’s unique branding. The goal is to provide a fully customized and branded user experience.
Landing Page implementation
Development and implementation of the project’s landing page (Landing Page) featuring logos, materials, project information, a blog, a contact form, and links to social media. Additionally, the capability to dynamically display basic statistics on ongoing projects (via API), including the number of photos/videos, the number of observations for selected species, the number of active users, and the number of different camera trap locations.
Implementation of the integrated Jupyter Hub interactive data analysis module
A platform fully integrated with the TRAPPER system for interactive analysis of camera trap data stored in the TRAPPER AI system database, based on Jupyter Hub technology (https://jupyter.org/hub). Data for analysis are downloaded directly from the TRAPPER AI system database in the Camtrap DP format (https://camtrap-dp.tdwg.org/). Basic programming skills in Python and/or R are required to use the module.
Interactive Dashboard for Camera Trap Monitoring Data
This service covers the complete design, implementation, and deployment of a custom, interactive Dashboard. The Dashboard will be fully integrated with the TRAPPER system and will present real-time monitoring/research results through interactive tables, charts, and key statistical indicators. The graphic design will be developed specifically to meet the needs and requirements of the project.

Infrastructure and System Maintenance for TRAPPER AI
- Regular updates for all Trapper modules, i.e., Trapper Expert, Trapper Citizen Science, Trapper AI Manager, and Trapper AI Worker.
- Regular updates of already available AI models (e.g., animal detection and species-level classification) and the setup and configuration of new AI models when their integration with the TRAPPER AI platform is completed (e.g., new species models, distance estimation).
- Real-time monitoring of the entire infrastructure and the working status of all Trapper AI modules (Sentry service).
- Regular security updates of the server operating system.
- Priority bug/issue fixing.
- Up to 10 hours per month of extra developer work to address reported issues and requested changes, including the implementation of small new features and small interface improvements.
- A dedicated communication channel on the OSCF Slack platform for reporting problems and obtaining direct support. The Customer will have the opportunity to communicate directly with the OSCF Team and our partners and experts, including the possibility of substantive discussions with camera trap monitoring experts and software developers.
- Access to the ticketing system shared with all other partners, which is maintained by the OSCF Team.
- Access to OSCF AI Worker without priority. The Customer will be allowed to use the OSCF AI Worker for processing upcoming camera trap data, but without any assurance of priority in the processing queue.

Custom AI Model Development & Refinement
We offer research and development services focused on training new or fine-tuning existing Artificial Intelligence (AI) models. This service utilizes data from the specific implementation area to achieve several key objectives:
- Expand Species Support: Integrate additional species into the classification system.
- Increase Accuracy: Enhance the overall classification accuracy of the models.
Furthermore, depending on the availability of sufficient data (e.g., camera trap footage and expert annotations), we can develop advanced models capable of classifying additional biological features for selected species. These features may include, but are not limited to, age, gender, behavior, and health condition.
